Project AWARE Speciality
Project AWARE’s philosophy is to mobilize a global force of scuba divers and water enthusiasts who care about protecting the world’s water resources and choose to make a difference – one dive at a time.
By earning the Project AWARE Specialist certification, you’ll be aware of the most pressing problems facing vulnerable aquatic environments and know what everyday actions you can take to help protect them.
What Will You Learn?
The Project AWARE programme is designed to familiarise divers, and non divers, with the plight of the world's aquatic systems. It describes what we can do to protect aquatic resources and looks at various issues including the importance of coastal ecosystems, concerns of fishing and marine pollution.
You learn about:
The ocean commons and coastal zone issues
Fisheries challenges and sustainability
Coral environment overview and inhabitants
The role of the scuba diver in protecting aquatic environments
The Project Aware Foundation is dedicated to conserving the aquatic environment through education, advocacy and action. Besides completing the Project AWARE Specialty course, you can become a partner in the efforts to preserve the underwater environment.
Anyone who has an interest in the aquatic world should take this course. There are no prerequisites, age restrictions or water sessions required for this non-diving specialty.
