Further Training

Once you have qualified as a diver there are many additional courses you can complete to earn greater experience and learn more about your favourite aspect of diving. Alternatively, why not join us on one of our many dive weekends or holidays to meet some new buddies and continue diving.    Further details are provided here, but please call with any particular queries.

Regular dive weekends, UK trips and overseas holidays
Everyone is welcome to come along on any of the dive weekends, UK trips and overseas holidays.  We want you to keep diving!  The dive weekends and trips are great for meeting new buddies and gaining more experience, and are always great fun.  Details of upcoming trips are contained in the 'Holidays' and 'Events schedule' pages.

Scuba Refresher  £50
If it has been six months or longer since you last dived it's a good idea to have a refresher to review all the skills.  An Instructor or Divemaster will go through all the skills with you, from setting up your equipment to perfecting your hover.

Advanced Open Water   £250
The Advanced Open Water Course involves five dives, carried out over a weekend, after which you'll be more experienced and feel more comfortable in the water. It introduces you to a range of new diving skills and qualifies you to dive to a depth of 30 metres.  It is the perfect next step after completing your Open Water course or at any time to continue your dive education.

Required dives include Underwater Navigation, where you learn to find your way round underwater, and Deep, where you learn more about dive planning and how to avoid decompression sickness.  You can then pick three more that interest you from a long list including Photography, Multi-level, Dry Suit, Enriched Air (Nitrox), Wreck, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Fish ID, Dry suit and many more......

If you complete any three adventure dives, you can earn your PADI Adventure Diver certification.

Enriched Air (NITROX)   £75
Maximize your dive time with the PADI Enriched Air Diver course. Enriched Air extends your bottom time by reducing the amount of nitrogen in your tank and allows you to:
  • Stay underwater longer
  • Get back into the water sooner
  • Get your certification while simultaneously completing dives for other PADI courses

Nitrox is becoming more and more popular around the world, and with many overseas dive centres offering free nitrox when you dive with them there is no better time to get qualified. The course is based around the theory of using enriched air, and open water dives are no longer required - making it ideal for the winter or those who are short of time!

Emergency First Response   £75
PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) is the fastest-growing international CPR, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid training organisation.

Dedicated to training the lay rescuer, the EFR courses encompasses adult, child and infant CPR skills, provides AED and First Aid training, and feature an outstanding First Aid at Work component.

Rescue Diver   £295
The PADI Rescue Diver will expand your knowledge and experience beyond purely recreational level because you'll learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the five open water sessions, you'll cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems
  • dive first aid
  • swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • emergency management and equipment
  • panicked diver response
  • missing diver procedures
  • surfacing the unconscious diver
  • in-water rescue breathing protocols
  • first aid procedures for pressure related accidents
CPR certification is required prior to completion – ask about our Emergency First Response course.

PADI Master Scuba Diver
This certification denotes that you've reached the highest recreational diver level in the PADI System of diver education and have a significant amount of training and experience in a variety of dive environments. To qualify you need to complete five speciality courses, be a Rescue Diver and have at least 50 dives. The 'black belt' of recreational diving!
