Navigation Speciality

Course Name Navigation Speciality

Overview Ever been on a dive and wondered how the Divemaster or Instructor just seemed to 'know' the way back to where you started? That wasn't luck, that was underwater navigation. Be the diver that everyone looks to when it's time to go home.

General Content
This course is designed as an introduction to underwater navigation. You'll cover planning and organising dives, taking into account navigational problems and hazards. You'll cover how to estimate distances underwater, how to use natural navigation techniques, how to use underwater patterns, and how to confidently use a compass underwater.

The course starts with simple exercises and finishes with you navigating a 5 point route around a dive site.  Perfect practice and giving you the confidence to dive with your buddy without a dive guide.

Requirements
  • You must be a PADI Open Water Diver (or have an equivalent qualifying certification).
  • A PADI Medical Questionnaire must be filled in prior to the first dive.

Knowledge Development Similar to many PADI courses, the navigation specialty course is a self-study course. You'll receive quality training materials from PADI, specifically designed to teach you what you need to know. Classroom sessions with a qualified PADI Instructor will ensure that you fully understand the information. Knowledge Reviews and a short test at the end of your theory session will confirm your understanding of the material.
