| Overview |
Ever dreamed of diving for a living? You can with PADI's professional level dive qualifications. These allow you to do something you love and increase your understanding of diving and dive planning.
After you've completed the PADI Rescue Diver course, you're ready for Divemaster. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by teaching you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.
Divemasters can:

Work with local dive centers, on live-aboard boats and resorts

Assist PADI Instructors with scuba classes

Lead PADI Scuba Divers on guided dive tours
-
Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers
-
Conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers

Conduct Discover Local Diving orientations
-
Teach The Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Course after completing a training course.

Teach Emergency First Response first aid programs after completing the training program.

| General Content |
During the Divemaster course you will learn dive leadership skills through classroom sessions and by using the PADI Divemaster Manual and DVD. You will also complete a series of waterskills and stamina exercises in confined and open water environments and gain hands-on experience supervising and assisting divers in actual PADI programs, under the guidance of a PADI Instructor.
You will develop an in-depth understanding of dive theory including physics, physiology, equipment, dive planning and supervising student divers.
There are also four required training exercises that test organizational and problem solving abilities:

Mapping a dive site, including underwater and surface features

Equipment exchange: demonstrate the ability to solve unanticipated problems underwater

Conduct a simulated or actual class, under the supervision of a PADI Instructor

Prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan for a local dive site

| Requirements |
To qualify to enter the Divemaster course you must:

Be a certified PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent

Have at least 20 logged dives
-
Be at least 18 years old
-
Submit a medical clearance for diving signed by a physician
Prior to qualifying you must:

Have completed a first aid course, including CPR, within the last 24 months
-
Have 60 logged dives including experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation.

| Knowledge Development |
You will complete the knowledge reviews in the Divemaster manuals and have classroom sessions with a PADI Instructor to ensure you fully understand the information prior to completing 8 exams covering dive essential theory including physics, physiology, equipment, dive planning and supervising student divers.
You will also prepare a map and Emergency Assistance Plan of a local dive site. |

| Confined Water |
You will perfect your skills and learn how to present them by completing a complete skill circuit.
You will participate and assist with at least five confined water sessions including Open Water courses and Discover Scuba Diving.
You will also complete waterskills and stamina assessments including tired diver tow, timed swim tests and equipment exchange. |
|
| Open Water |
You will participate and assist with at least six open water sessions including Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses and guiding certified divers. |
