The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) consists of two sections, the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. You can complete each course separately or combine them together, going through the entire IDC in as few as seven days.
As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional scuba diver, but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities. It’s a great way to gain experience in order to become a scuba Instructor. Assistant Instructors can:
- Teach knowledge development (classroom) presentations (under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor)
- Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills (under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor)
- Teach the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course
- Teach the Project AWARE Specialty course
- Conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences
-
Teach Emergency First Response courses after successfully completing the training course

-

The next A.I. course is running in October / November 2010, with the OWSI portion running from 9 to 12 December in Warwick. The Instructor Exams are at Stoney Cove on 14 & 15 December 2010. |
